Description
Lewis Addison Armistead was a career United States Army officer who became a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. As part of Pickett's Charge during the Battle of Gettysburg, Armistead led his brigade to the farthest point reached by Confederate forces during the charge. He died two days later in a field hosplital after being wounded and captured aduring the battle.
Richard Jordan portrayed him in the 1993 movie of Gettysburg and that is the likeness I chose to capture in this painting.
